Pro-tools 7.3cs5 Problems

MessageAuthor

Have you tried trashing the prefs and databases? Recommended after most updates. What "memory" errors specifically? are you talking about H/W buffer errors? Have you considered backup? I'm really not trying to be a jerk here or anything, it's just wise computing to have a backup routine. I definitely always recommend using disk imaging software (True Image is my personal choice, but there are others) before any upgrade, major or minor. Both on the system drive and the audio drive. It really does save a whole lot of the grief you're going through. Also, while Pro Tools is really a pain this way sometimes, "problems" are definitely not unique to Pro Tools. Just browse the Sonar and Cubase forums from time to time; they are chock-full of different, but similar problems. (I've had a few in an older version of Sonar myself; thank goodness for backups)

Make a new song and import the data from the other project. That solved my access violation problems that was caused because I upgraded during a project. This can do the trick here too.

Working from a backup causes the same errors.. and yes it is the HW buffer errors. I am religous about my backups... Importing all the tracks in to a new session is time consuming my 1# gripe... that's what i had to do to get it back into shape when i upgraded to cs3 from cs2. Every new cs release causes some sort of data corruption with old sessions. New releases are suppose to improve not destroy....

And when you've done it all manually, or with the utility, then delete your Prefetch File, empty your Recycle Bin, Reboot, and rebulid your Preferences and Options and you'll be good to go - at least for a while. You should also be sure your PACE Drivers are up-to-date. Cheers,
