740 tail pipe smoke

I have a 92 740 turbo that is blowing smoke both water and oil so the plugs look good no oil in the water. Looks like turbo shot. Can I disconnect the turbo oil feed and water feed, so it stops blowing it out the tail pipe and disable the turbo itself untill I get some $ saved to replace the turbo. Can you run these things w/o turbo

Pass - but I wouldn't hold my breath the compression is a lot lower on the turbo models than the non turbo models plus there maybe issues with blanking off the feed pipes. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will give you a definitive answer.

If Turbo went away, possibly also the oil is contaminated with particles. Along with that, the turbine shaft running with no oil will get seizure...scrap, no choice. Personally I wouldn't give this girl a run, 'cause repairing a turbo is fairly cheap comparing with an engine repair (major, due to excessive wear)...
