Hand brake gone??

I was trying to adjust the handbrake earlier (on the wheel), after having done it on the handle and when i took the wheel off (driver's side), i discover that the handbrake has almost no effect on the wheel, i tired adjusting it, (ie, screwing the thing either way) it didn;t make much difference at all. I haven;t checked the other side yet but i know it grips a little on the other side. what should i do? Thanks!!!

Could be it needs new handbrake shoes. Did you use the guide?

Most definitely check the shoes... they seem to have a habit of shedding the linings!

the handle needs to be fully released on the cable adjuster and fully in the off position before you adjust the wheel adjusters... cheers jod

hi everyone, thanks for the replies. I have had another go at it and now it seems all fine, work done.. however.. I snaped one of the wheel nuts trying to do it up a little too tight... Trouble...

Yes I am going to drill it out and stuff, I remember doing that when the locking wheelnut went bad before, it was not a fun experience. Thanks jod t5 I guess the trouble is i m doing it all by hand i don;t know when it's tight enough :S
